NAVIGATING THE ENERGY SYSTEM TRANSITION – EPISODE 8

 In News

In this episode Dr Adam Stock of the University of Strathclyde introduces us to the benefits of implementing smart control on wind farms. We hear how smart curtailment (at times of high wind and low demand) could increase the life of wind turbines and also enable wind turbines to provide ancillary services to support grid operation, ultimately lowering the cost of energy to consumers by lowering the cost of system operation.

A great insight on the system operability challenges that are coming down the line and how wind can help address them whilst maintaining turbine health.
